Additional Description: 1979 International Harvester Scout II Chassis: J0062JGD43972 33,272 Indicated Miles - TMU 345ci V8 3-Speed Automatic Transmission 2-Speed Transfer Case Dana 44 Rear-End w/ 3.07 Gears Rallye Wheels Rear Step Bumper One Known Repaint Line Setting Ticket and owners manual Included This 1979 Scout II was originally purchased as an FSO (For Service Of) unit by an International Harvester dealer in Portland, Oregon as documented in the original Owner's Service Policy booklet. It is powered by a 345ci V8 paired to a 3-speed automatic transmission with a 2-speed transfer case, and a Dana 44 rear-end with 3.07 gearing. Factory options include A/C, cruise control, Rallye wheels, a rear step bumper, and a front stabilizer. This Scout was reported by the selling dealer to have been maintained in stock specs with a repaint in its original Embassy Gray and an added dashboard pad. It was also stated to have remained local to the Portland area until it arrived in Austin Texas early in 2019. It was reported to have received a repaint at some point during previous ownership and was done in the original shade of Embassy Gray (8547). Currently, the finish is shows some aging with a few touched-up chips. It was reported that the interior weatherstrip seal for the removable hard top remains unbroken, which seems to indicate that the top has never been been removed. It looks to have all of the factory badges and lenses along with the optional rear step bumper The seats are upholstered in gray cloth with blue vinyl. The OEM blue carpet shows some fading and discoloration in a few areas as expected with the age of the vehicle. This Scout II was optioned with both A/C and cruise control, however both features are currently inoperable. Four new Cooper 235/75R15 Discovery AT3 tires were installed on the factory Rallye wheels in April of 2020. The mechanical odometer indicates 33,272 miles with total mileage unknown.

Recalls are a well-established global practice; from time to time they are announced by almost all manufacturers of not only cars, but also any other industrial products. But since a car is considered a source of increased danger, it is recalls in the automotive industry that attract the most attention and cause the greatest resonance. Check if your car is covered by a recall campaign. Sometimes manufacturers will recall their cars because of substandard parts or workmanship and repair them for free, regardless of the warranty. This is called a recall campaign. More information on 1979 International Harvester SCOUT recalls can be found in this database. It may be useful to use online problems resource that shows automotive defect patterns, based on complaint data submitted by vehicle owners. The problems are organized into groups with data published by vehicle, component, and specific issue. See also an updated list of 1979 International Harvester SCOUT problems before buying a used car. In most cases, the recall is initiated by the manufacturer. But it also happens that it is forced to do so. The largest and most scandalous recall campaigns were those that were initiated by complaints and lawsuits from consumers through controlling state structures.
